SHE DOESN'T LIKE MINDLESS DRIVEL...

When my husband gets all get together with the other lads, the wives are expected to hang out together too. But I don't enjoy hanging out with the women who only want to talk about babies and clothing and home decor and all of that crap. It bores the hell out of me. I enjoy debates, exchange of ideas, politcal discussions, talk about everything and anything but the problem is that the focus in most group never changes. And going to baby showers? Don't even get me started! I don't like stereotypes and i don't want labels. Personally i think there is so much more to women and i wonder why it is that some just enjoy fitting and sticking to that stereotype. Am i normal? What should i do about it so that i can survive such get-togethers and not spoil it for anyone else with my negative attitude.

Thanks.

Nyasha, I thank you for your question. This flower is for you. Let's have some espresso? I have a nice French roast or Sumatra, which would you like? Do you take sugar or cream?? Have a seat and let's talk about your duty to pull these poor women out of their humdrum lives, for just one night...

like this blog template! I agree that it is easier to work with Blogger on the template, WP doesn't give you that freedom!
Thanks for the tips, will work on shifting the conversation topic from the colour of poo in the diapers to something a bit more challenging for the grey matter! ;)

Nyasha, thanks! I also thank you for this suggestion and maybe, just maybe this'll be something. If nothing else fun!

I hate comparing kid stories...Matter of fact, I can't stand kids other than my own, lol! Fact of the matter is THEY get on my nerves too! Anybody wanna borrow them?

jersey, I'm with you 100% and nothings worse than when you're at a get together at someones house and they want to play a video or bring out the photo album and show you there trip to Uncle Bob & Aunt Martha's and the kids on their farm riding ponies and shit. I had that happen and felt guilty cause I'd rather be outside with the guys getting drunk. There's a time and place for everything. Just like I post my nephews viseo's on my Sweet Dreams blog. They're cute and all but someone can look if they feel like it. They're not obligated to. But if you're at someone's house and they break out the album from birth to 10, your stuck like a lobster in a tank of boiling water. Wish more people were aware of it!!

Oh hell yeah Nyasha! To your stance and feelings, I say thank God you're not into that crap. It's the pits. Can you imagine a life of sitting around with a forced smile on your face talking about farkin Home Interior parties? Or how to dress for the ladies out luncheon? oh my. My solution to those times I have loathed (i.e. my entire life) the thoughts of having to sit with the "ladies" and discuss baby clothing or jewelry parties or home interior parties or what Estee Lauder facial scrub works best or (you get the picture :). Nope. No can do. I used to - JUST to please someone else. I truly despised that crap. The older I got, the easier it was to say "sorry, can't make it." And oh how much happier I am not having to wonder how in the HELL long I have to force a smile at the hen-pecking party. No more. Never will there come the day again this bitch has to sit with a bunch of women I can't stand to begin with and discuss what Jenny Lynn Tennis Braclet, or whatever that farkin line of jewlery is, Bob bought them for their anniversary. F*** THAT SHIT! :):)

jt, I just have to put my 2 cents in and say, I think I'm in the same place in my life as you. Ya can't force feed me with that crap anymore and I won't do it.But at the same time, she doesn't want to be the one wife that doesn't participate with the rest of the wives. Do you have a ny good suggestions to give her on what to do? There's gotta be answer, ya know?

hehe - Yep - I think we have probably reached that "place" in our lives. hmmmm... golly - when I was having to do the couples thing and visit wives and stuff like that, I didn't like it, and I recall feeling "pissy" on those days. He knew, also, that I didn't enjoy it, and so the whole scene was always tense(getting ready, wishing I was getting ready for something else besides visiting the jewelry women - lol). If Naysha (sorry if I spelled that wrong) has a hobby of her own that is "her baby", so to speak, (in my case it's the boat), then I would suggest asking some of those wives if they want to go...(do whatever Nyasha might want to do). I found out (when I started going boating WITHOUT the spouse) that many of my lady friends wanted to go too. I didn't know so many women DID want to go out in a boat and just piddle up and down the creek! I found out several of my female friends have always wanted to go out in the boat but that they didn't want to go with their husbands because they fought the entire time. I'm not saying go out and learn how to do something off the wall (like paddle down some creek somewhere), but yeah -- that can work sometimes when / if you are stuck with jewelry parties you have to attend and do not like!

Target shooting can also be a fun thing to do. hehe. Now that is a fun thought. A bunch of women showing up at the rifle range on account of advice received at Aunt B's! I guess now you know why I'm not at the jewelry party this afternoon. I'm busy collecting beer cans for today's practice session. Just kidding hehe.

I just read Jersey's comments, and I'm LMAO! See? A lot of women are in the same boat!

jt, a bunch of women who've never fired a gun, scares the hell outa me. But I'm a target shooter myself. I guess if they were willing to learn and pay attention and understand respect it'd be ok. But I agree with you.I used to go shooting with my friend in Va, Rene'. She had a .45 and I had my trusty .44 Magnum Super Black Hawk, yea baby. But it was an expensive hobby with handguns, for us. We'd often take the .22 LR and pop some cans, (you know that joke? I'll email you that one), and shoot the shit and shoot. It's a good reason to get in the woods, walk and talk and enjoy a nice day. Fall is best isn't it??
